Reward and Recognition Consulting worked closely with the management and staff of a mining company to understand why 200 staff wanted to join a union (APESMA) and move from individual contracts to a certified agreement. The key issues were internal relativity and life style – hours of work.
Over a period of thee months Reward and Recognition Consulting developed a package of measures agreed to by management and staff, aligning remuneration with the restructured “hours of work” policy. As a result, staff signed new individual contracts of employment and withdrew the draft certified agreement.
